Optimising Resource Use and Material Flows in Agro-ecosystems

18.14.19.02.01

This project develops solutions for optimising resource use in agricultural production systems, mainly by replacing the use of N mineral fertilisers with the optimisation of farmyard-manure use, by replacing P mineral fertilisers from increasingly scarce storage facilities with mineral-P recycling fertilisers, and through the use of vegetable carbon. The resulting improvement in nutrient efficiency reduces nutrient losses into the environment.

The investigation of nutrient balances yields crucial findings for the continued optimisation of the efficiency with which agro-ecosystems make use of resources. A large part of the research results obtained is used to perform enforcement-support and agri-environmental monitoring tasks.
