Competitive and Sustainable Arboriculture via Efficient Orchard Systems

Competitive and Sustainable Fruit Production via Efficient Growing Systems

Agroscope tests rootstock for pear and apricot trees with a view to its use in low-water-consumption orchard systems. Progress towards optimised irrigation management is achieved by developing new measuring and data-transmission devices. Remote interactivity between the producer and the measuring device must be possible via a user interface. The latter must include various functionalities designed to control irrigation on the basis of soil and plant indicators, in order to improve water efficiency. The data gathered on the measurement network constitute a source of additional information for developing models and providing irrigation thresholds for all producers.
